Locking the Controls
The HOLD switch locks the >t! (POWER ON) and @ (OFF)
buttons so that they cannot function. This feature is useful when,
for example, you are transporting the player or listening toa
compact disc in an unstable environment.
To lock, slide the HOLD switch to the right so that the orange dot
can be seen.

Listening to Sound
You can use the supplied headphones to listen to a compact
disc, or the audio information (if included) in an electronic book.
See the "Playing a Regular Compact Disc" and "Listening to
Audio Information" sections for details.
Before you listen to the sound, plug the headphones into the
PHONES jack and try to set the VOLUME control to a low level.
Then increase it to a higher, more comfortable level when you
are listening.
