Notes on charging
¢ When a fully discharged battery pack is recharged, "Cannot charge the
battery" appears, followed shortly by "Now charging the battery." This
is not a malfunction.
¢ Pressing @ (OFF) or opening the disc compartment lid does not
interrupt the charging operation.
¢ Be sure to use the supplied AC power adaptor for charging the battery
pack.
¢ During a charge, if you unplug the AC power adaptor, the battery charge
indication appears, but the amount indicated is only approximate due to
the affect of temperature, usage, etc. Therefore, it is best to allow the
battery pack to fully charge.
To check the remaining power of a battery pack
1 Unplug the AC power adaptor.
2 Press Pil (POWER ON).
3 Press (F3) (BATT).
The battery charge indication appears, showing the present
level of battery power.
If the battery power drops below a certain level, "The battery is
empty" appears.
If the battery pack is completely discharged, then either no
message appears or you simply cannot turn on the player.
Battery life
if the battery pack can deliver, after a full charge, for only about
half the time it normally could, replace it with a new one.
