Chapter 1 14 DASHBOARD TURN SIGNALS, HORN, TILT I REACH STEERING Turn signals The turn signals lever is on the right side of the steering column. Push the lever up to signal a left turn, down to signal a right turn. In some turns (such as changing lanes) the steering wheel is not turned far enough to cancel the turn signal.

Depending on the density of the fog, different combination of lights will improve vision. For instance, in very heavy fog, vision may be improved by turning the headlights off, and just having the park lights and fog lights on.

Chapter 1 1-33 DASHBOARD ANTENNA AND PHONE The antenna shaft should be regularly cleaned with a soft cloth, water and a mild detergent. This not only helps the antenna to retract but also aids radio reception. The best reception is always gained when the antenna is fully extended. However, to guard against breaking or bending the antenna, it may need to be retracted (for overhanging trees, car wash, etc.).

Chapter 1-35 DASHBOARD STANDARD HEATER, AIR CONDITIONER cont. Fan dial The fan dial provides speed control of the blower fan in all Mode dial positions. The system is protected by switches that guard against abnormal loads and loss of refrigerant. The compressor may switch off permanently. Have the system checked by your Holden Retailer if this occurs. Note: It is important that once every two weeks, with the engine running, to switch the air conditioner on for 5 to 10 minutes (even in winter) to lubricate the air conditioner system seals.

Chapter 1 1-37 DASHBOARD VENT/LA TION SYSTEM The vehicle features a flow-through ventilation system for your comfort. Under reasonable conditions, it should not be necessary to open the windows at any time. Outside air (except when recirculate is selected) is drawn into the vehicle through the opening between the bonnet and the windscreen.

Chapter 1 1-42 DASHBOARD CLIMATE CONTROL NOTES Ignition keys Vehicles fitted with 'priority key locking' systems (refer to Chapter 2, Locks) have the ability to remember individual adjustments for different keys. When the key is inserted in the ignition and turned on, the system identifies the key and sets the climate control to the last adjustments used for that key.

Chapter 1 1-44 DASHBOARD The cruise control maintains your vehicle's speed without you having your foot on the accelerator pedal. The cruise control lever is on the right side of the steering column. The ON-OFF I CANCEL switch is at the end of the lever and is activated by pushing in towards the direction of the steering column.

Chapter 2 LOCKS DOOR LOCKS Lock Doors are locked when the lock knob is down. Automatic vehicles have an 'Auto lock in drive' feature which locks the doors automatically when the transmission selector is shifted out of Park. Chapter 2 LOCKS DOOR LOCKS cont. Note: If unsure whether the vehicle is locked or deadlocked, press the LOCK button on the key. If the vehicle is already deadlocked the lights will give a long flash; if the vehicle is locked, the lights will give a short flash, but will not engage the deadlocking. If the LOCK button is pressed twice within 10 seconds, the lights will give a long flash to indicate that deadlocking has occurred.

When the metal tongue is locked safely into place you will hear a 'click'. After fastening, settle the belt at the hip, and run your hand under the sash from hip to shoulder to ensure that the belt fits comfortably and is free from twists.

Chapter 3 KNOWYOURVEHICLE WHICH TYPE OF CHILD RESTRAINT FOR YOUR CHILD? Children should be restrained at all times and fitted with a child restraint appropriate to their size when travelling in a vehicle. Following are some guidelines about selecting the appropriate restraint for your child.

Power windows (if fitted) The main window switches are located between the front seats. The switches are operational when the ignition is turned on or the UNLOCK button on the key is pressed.

Chapter 3 3 12 KNOW YOUR VEHICLE MIRRORS Internal rear view mirror Moving the lever on the lower edge of the mirror reduces headlight glare from following vehicles when driving at night. Chapter 3 3 14 KNOW YOUR VEHICLE ACCESSORY CONTROL Your vehicle is equipped with an accessory control feature that can be set at the instrument panel to shut down all accessories (radio, power socket, wipers, etc.) either when the ignition key is turned off, or when the driver's door is opened (refer to Chapter 1, CUSTOMISATION MODE for details about this setting).

Chapter 3 3 15 KNOWYOURVEHICLE BATTERY SAVER A battery saver feature has also been built into your vehicle to ensure that all internal lights (for example dome, ignition and glovebox) will switch off automatically after one hour to discourage depletion of your battery. The battery saver will activate when there have been no lights or accessories turned on for one hour after the ignition has been switched off.

Chapter 3 3 16 KNOW YOUR VEHICLE GLOVEBOX AND CENTRE CONSOLE Glovebox T he glovebox, provided in all vehicles, is located in the dashboard directly in front of the passenger seat. A specific key is provided solely to lock and unlock the glovebox.
Chapter 3 3 17 KNOWYOURVEHICLE STORAGE COMPARTMENTS Front and rear storage compartments (if fitted) All vehicles are built with a front storage compartment and crew cab vehicles are fitted with a the rear storage compartment. The front storage compartment is located beneath the radio system, and the rear storage compartment is at the rear of the centre console.

Storage pockets (regular cab) There are two storage pockets attached to the back of the rear panel trim for the storage of various items, such as street directories, folders, maps, etc. Storage tray (crew cab) There is a storage tray located under the rear seat cushion, on the right-hand side.

Chapter 3 3 20 KNOW YOUR VEHICLE CUP HOLDERS Front cup holders - centre (if fitted) The centre cup holders are located forward of the centre console. The cup holder bin may be covered by a telephone storage tray (if fitted) which is removable to allow access to the cup holders.

The footrest for the driver's left foot is adjustable to three positions. First remove the caps and undo the two screws on the right hand side of the footrest. Move the footrest forward or backward as required, then replace the screws and caps. See your Holden Retailer for assistance with this adjustment if necessary.

Chapter 1 1 11-2 CLEANING INTERIOR CLEANING WARNING: Many cleaners may be toxic, flammable or may damage the interior. When cleaning the interior, avoid volatile cleaners such as: acetone, lacquer thinners, enamel reducers, nail polish removers, or cleaners such as laundry soaps, bleaches or reducing agents. Never use carbon tetrachloride, petrol or naphtha for any cleaning purpose.
