Automatic headlights When the headlight switch is in the AUTO position, the headlights and park lights automatically switch off and on with the ignition switch or through the approach lighting feature, refer to 'Headlights on when approaching the vehicle' below. Once the instruments are illuminated, the driver has the ability to adjust the brightness (see previous page). Some illuminated areas of the vehicle have been linked to the brightness control (for example, the trip computer, headlight switch and radio).

    Chapter 2 LOCKS DOOR LOCKS Lock Doors are locked when the lock knob is down. Automatic vehicles: Vehicles fitted with an automatic transmission have an 'Auto lock in drive' feature which locks the doors automatically when the transmission selector is shifted out of park. This feature can be selected from the instrument panel Options menu, refer to 'Options Menu' in Chapter 1.

    Chapter 2 LOCKS ALARM Switching on and off The alarm system is switched on when the LOCK button on the key is pressed, and switched off when UNLOCK is pressed.     Chapter 2 LOCKS IGNITION LOCK WARNING: Do not switch the engine off while the vehicle is moving as there would not be any power assist for brakes or steering. Never remove the key while the vehicle is moving, as this would lock the steering.

    The force required to make the key free turn reduces each time. As the force gets easier with each free turn, please do not attempt to demonstrate or test this feature, and always remember to fully insert the key when locking and unlocking the doors.     2 11 Chapter LOCKS TAILGATE LOCK- WAGON WARNING: To prevent dangerous exhaust fumes entering the vehicle, close the tailgate when the engine is running. If it is necessary to leave the tailgate open (while carrying bulky cargo) close all windows, switch heater controls to 'fresh' and set fan to highest speed. The tailgate is locked when the doors are locked, and unlocked when all the doors are unlocked.

    Chapter 3 KNOW YOUR VEHICLE FRONT SEAT ADJUSTMENT WARNING - SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS (SlAB) *= Do not fit unauthorised seat covers as they may impair the deployment of the Side Impact Airbags (SlAB). Do not position your body or any object (including pillows) between front seats and doors.

The front switch is used to electrically adjust the height, tilt and movement of the seat forward and backward. The rear switch is used to electrically adjust the angle of the back of the seat.

To fold down the armrest, insert your hand into the top of the armrest and pull down. The armrest should always be tucked back up into the seatback when folding the seatback forwards.

    Chapter 7 WEEKLY CHECKS MISCELLANEOUS CHECKS As well as taking the vehicle to be serviced (refer to the service booklet in the vehicle's glovebox) there are a few simple, weekly checks the owner I operator is recommended to make. It is designed to hold loads in place and reduce load impact to passengers in an accident. Remove the protective strips* along the two tie-down rails running the length of the rear cargo area.

  • Page 226 Chapter 10 10-2 CLEANING INTERIOR CLEANING WARNING: Many cleaners are toxic, flammable or may damage the interior. When cleaning the interior, avoid volatile cleaners such as acetone, lacquer thinners, enamel reducers, nail polish removers, or cleaners such as laundry soaps, bleaches or reducing agents. Never use carbon tetrachloride, petrol or naphtha for any cleaning purpose.
  • Page 227 Do not bleach or dye seat belts as this may severely weaken them. Interior glass Clean interior glass of the vehicle using a good quality glass cleaner, such as Holden Glass Cleaner, and a clean soft cloth. Take care when cleaning inside the rear window so as not to damage the rear window demister or radio antenna.

Applying the brakes lightly will indicate whether they have been affected. To dry them quickly, lightly apply the brakes while maintaining a slow forward speed with a clear area ahead, until brake performance returns to normal.
  • Page 230 Use a good quality glass cleaner, such as Holden Glass Cleaner, and wash each section of glass in turn, making sure the water, its container and the sponge are quite clean and free from grit. Clean, old linen cloth is better than new material for polishing glass.
