Chapter 1 DASHBOARD GAUGES Temperature Fuel gauge gauge Tachometer Centre display Speedometer Speedometer The speedometer shows vehicle speed in kilometres per hour. Tachometer The tachometer shows engine speed in revolutions per minute (r.p.m.). Sustained Automatic transmission: Under wide open throttle acceleration (accelerator pedal pushed flat to the floor) it is possible that the tachometer needle may briefly touch I enter the lower end of the tachometer's red zone just prior to automatically upshifting into a higher gear.

Depending on the density of the fog, different combination of lights will improve vision. For instance, in very heavy fog, vision may be improved by turning the headlights off, and just having the park lights and fog lights on.

NOTES Unsealed roads When following another vehicle on dusty roads, or to prevent exhaust fumes or odours entering your vehicle, select the recirculate position on the mode dial, make sure windows are closed and switch on air conditioning (if fitted). When driving on un-sealed roads but where the dust is not airborne, use the face or bi-level setting of the Mode dial (with the windows closed) and the fan preferably on a high speed so that positive air pressure in the vehicle will prevent any dust entry.

Under reasonable conditions, it should not be necessary to open the windows at any time. Chapter 1-48 DASHBOARD CLIMATE CONTROL The Climate Control panel is located in the centre of the dashboard. It is designed to maintain the interior of your vehicle at your desired temperature. The RPA starts automatically when the ignition is on and reverse gear is selected. A short single tone from the speaker indicates that the RPA is operational.

Tow bar: When a tow bar is fitted to the vehicle, the RPA requires adjustment to allow for the protrusion of the tow bar. Chapter 2 LOCKS KEYS cont. Pressing buttons When pressing the key buttons ensure that other keys on the key ring are not between the main key and the vehicle. Other keys can obscure the signal being transmitted to the vehicle. Also refer to Notes about the keys on page 2-6.

Chapter 2 LOCKS DOOR LOCKS Lock Doors are locked when the lock knob is down. Automatic vehicles have an 'Auto lock in drive' feature which locks the doors automatically when the transmission selector is shifted out of Park. This feature can be selected from the instrument panel Customisation Mode (Refer to CUSTOMISATION MODE in Chapter 1 ).

Chapter 2 LOCKS DOOR LOCKS cont. To unset deadlock Press UNLOCK on the key (within 4 metres of the vehicle). This will unlock the doors. Therefore, undeadlocking happens naturally, when unlocking the doors. Unlock Press the UNLOCK button on the key within 4 metres of the vehicle.

The key buttons will not work if the battery inside the key is flat. Try turning the key in the ignition to ON, then OFF again and remove. Try pressing LOCK on the key again. If it still does not work a replacement key may be needed from your Holden Retailer.

Chapter 2 LOCKS ALARM Switching on and off The alarm system is turned on when the LOCK button on the key is pressed, and turned off when UNLOCK is pressed. Chapter LOCKS ALARM Notes Remember, the alarm system is turned off and on when the UNLOCK and LOCK • buttons on the key are pressed. If it is necessary to leave the tailgate open (while carrying bulky cargo) close all windows, switch heater controls to 'fresh' and set fan to highest speed. The tailgate is locked when the doors are locked, and unlocked when all the doors are unlocked.

Chapter 6 6-14 EMERGENCIES ENGINE OVERHEATING WARNING: Immediate action is required if the engine overheats. This can be indicated by the temperature gauge needle moving over to the 'H' or the animated warning 'Engine Temp Hot' appearing on the central display (refer to page 1-1 0), by steam escaping from under bonnet, a loss of power or a loud knocking or pinging noise.

Chapter 6 6-15 EMERGENCIES ENGINE OVERHEATING cont. When the engine has cooled sufficiently, check the radiator level as follows. Cover the radiator cap with a thick cloth and turn it slowly anticlockwise (without • pressing down) until it reaches a 'stop'. This is the pressure relief stop, which allows any remaining pressure (indicated by a hissing sound) to escape.

This is particularly important if the engine is supercharged, as these engines have three air bleed points. It is recommended that air bleeding be done by your Holden Retailer who has the most up-to-date technical information and equipment for the system. You should have the air bled as soon as possible on supercharged engines or they may be damaged due to overheating.

Chapter 6 6-17 EMERGENCIES FLAT BATTERY WARNING: DO NOT 'push start' or 'tow start' your vehicle, either manual or automatic. If unburnt fuel were to reach the catalytic converter and ignite, the converter could overheat or be destroyed by backfire. Therefore, if the battery is flat, you can 'jump start', but not 'push start' your vehicle.
