Rear
Shock Absorbers
Each shock absorber
(l)
has
five adjustment
positions
for
different load
or
riding
conditions.
Position
I
is
for light
loads and
smooth road
conditions. Positions
II
to
V
increase
spring
preload
for a stiffer
rear
suspension,
and
can
be used
when the motorcycle is heavily
loaded.
Be
certain
to adjust both
shock
ab-
sorbers
to
the
same
position.
FRONT BRAKE
This motorcyclc
has
a hydraulic
front
disc
brake.
As thc brakc
pacls
wear, brake
fluid
level
drops, autonlatically
compensating for
wear.
Therc arc no
adjustments
to
perform,
but
flLrid lcvel
and
pad wear must
be inspected
periodically. Thc
system
must
be inspected
frequently to
ensurc there
are
no
fluid
leaks.
Il
the
control levcl
lree
play
becomes ex-
cessive
and the
brake pads
are
not
worn
beyond
the
recommended
limit
(page
l8),
there
is
probably air in
the brake system and
it
must
be
bled.

your authorized
Honda
dealer
for
this
service.

Fluid
Level:
Remove the
screws
(l),
reservoir cover
(2),
and diaphragm. Whenever the level is
near
the
lower
level
mark
(3) on the
reservoir,
fill
the
reservoir
with DOT
3
OR DOT
4
BRAKE
FLUID
from
a
sealed
container up
to
the upper level
mark (4).
Reinstall
thi:
diaphragm
and
covcr
(2).
Tighten
the
screws
(l)
securely.
GAUTION:
*
When
adding
lrake
fluid,
be sure
the
reservoir
is horiznntal before
the cap
is
removed
or
brakc
tluid
may
spill
out.

Brake
fluid
may
cause
irritation, Avoid
contact
with
skin
or
eyes.
In
case
ofcon-
tact,
flush
thoroughly
with
water
and
call
a
doctor
if
your
