Lubrication
Rotating units require
lubricant
to
reduce
wear
and heat and prevent seizure.
If
not
lubricated
the machine
service life
is
shortened,
and break-
downs will occur.
1.
Parts
for
which
there
is
no
periodical
lubri-
cating
schedule.
There
are
parts
which do not require
periodic
lubrication
,
but
only
w

disassemb

These
parts are
the
steering
ball,
cone
race,
and
throttle
grip.

on the oil gauge, with the
filler cap not
threaded
in but just inserted,
it
is correct
(Fig. 6. 32)
NOTE:
1.
Do not operate the engine if
the
oil level is
below the lower oil
level
mark
on
the dipstick.
2.
Overfilling the
crankcase with
oil will cause
the
oil to be
blown
out of
the
breather.
3.
When
operating the
motorcycle
in
unusually
dusty condit ion,
it is
recommended that the oil
change
be
performed at more frequent intervals
than that which
is specified in
the maintenance
schedule
; this will have a
very
beneficial effect
on
the
engine.
