STARTING THE ENGINE
Thi
s
motorcycle is
equipped with
a
side
st and
ignition cut-off system.
The engine
cannot
be
started
if
the
side
stand
is
down,
unless the transmi ssion is in
neutral.
If the
side
st and
is
up
,
the
engine can be started
in
neutral or
in
gear
w
ith the
clutch
lever
pulled in
.
After starting with
the side
stand
down
,
th
e
engine will
shut
off
if th
e
trans-
mission
is
put
in
gear before
raising
the side
stand.To
protect th
e
catalytic converter
in
your motorcyc le' s exhaust
syst
em,avo
id
extending
idling
and use
of
leaded
petrol.
•
Never run the engine in
an
enclosed
area. The
exhaust contains
poisonous
carbon
monoxide
gas that can cause
loss of consciousness and lead
to
death.

•
Do
not
use
the electric starter
for
more
t han 5 seconds
at
a
time.
Rel

for approximately 1 0

before pressing it again.
Before
starting
,
insert
the
key,
turn the
igni-
tion
switch
ON and confirm
the
fol lowing:
•
The
transm
ission
is
in NEUTRAL
(neutral
indicator
light
ON).
•
The
engine stop
switch
is at
RUN
.
•
The red low
oil pressure
indicator
is
ON
.
Starting Procedure
To
restart a warm
engine,
follow the proce-
dure
for
"
High
Air
Temperature".

is

Start

open the
throttle

with the
choke
ON.

mixture, resulting in hard start ing

ate
the
choke
lever
(1) to keep fast
idle
at:
2.000-3.000 min-1
(rpm)

About
a
half
minut
e
after the engi ne
starts,
push the
choke lever (1) forward
all
the
way
to
Fully
OFF
(B).
5.
If idling is unstabl
e, ope
n
the throttle
slightly.
!cAUTION
I
•
The red low oil pressure indicator
should go off a few seconds after
the
engine starts. If the light stays on, stop
the engine immediately and check en-
gine oil level. Operating the engine with
insufficient oil pressure can cause seri-
ous engine damage.
