Protocol selection
LAN modules are provided for the IEC61850 and other communication†, and an optional serial
module‡ will be provided for the Modbus RTU or IEC60870-5-103 slave communication.
Figure 11.1-1 illustrates the IED has IEC61850, IEC103 and Modbus, and the user can select
one of them using SLAVE PROTOCOL§ setting of Setting sub-menu. IEC61850 and others
have its own settings. For example, the IED has settings, such as GOOSE and authentication,
for the IEC61850.

†Note: The number of the communication protocol embedded in an IED is depending on
the software selection of that IED, which the user can identify using an ordering
code at positon U on page 1133. See
supported here (even though the DNP3.0 is displayed on the LCD).
‡Note: We have discussed that optional communication interface on page 645. See
Technical description: Signal processing and communication module
§Note: When changing Slave Protocol to "IEC61850", need to GR-200 IED restarts after
changing this setting item. Please change this item with caution.
