Your ICON GOLD'S GYM TRAINER 420 model GGTL396131 may not be powering up due to the following reasons:

1. Demo Mode Activated – If the console display remains lit after removing the key, the treadmill might be in demo mode. Hold down the Stop button for a few seconds to turn it off.

2. Power Cord Issues – Ensure that the power cord is plugged into a surge suppressor and that the suppressor is connected to a properly grounded outlet.

3. Surge Suppressor Compatibility – Use only a surge suppressor that meets the treadmill’s specifications.

4. AFCI Outlet Tripping – If the treadmill is connected to an AFCI-equipped outlet and the circuit breaker trips repeatedly, you may need an arc filter.

Check these points to troubleshoot the issue.

Gold's Trainer 420 - powers up but no screen back light. All functions work. Magnetic key is in place. Have done resets half a dozen times. Powerbar functional. The only thing that doesn't work besides the backlight on the screen is the treadmill won't go when you press START. I had it for 3 years worked perfectly. Got injured, had surgery, couldn't walk for 2 years and the treadmill sat unplugged for that duration. Today, the two things I mentioned, the backlight and the START not working. Any ideas?

Possible causes for the backlight and START function not working after being unplugged for two years include:

1. Power cord issue: Ensure the power cord is plugged in properly. If it is, unplug it, wait five minutes, and plug it back in.

2. Key not inserted correctly: Remove the key from the console and reinsert it.

3. Console damage or moisture: If liquids came into contact with the console, it may be damaged.

4. Electrical components wear: Not unplugging the treadmill during long-term storage can cause premature wear of electrical components.

5. Demo mode: The console may be in display demo mode, which keeps lights on but disables functions.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, service may be required.
