190 Driving and parking
Saved obstacles are deleted in the following situa-
tions, for example:
You switch off the vehicle.

You open the doors.

Each time the vehicle is restarted, obstacles must
be detected again before a warning can be
issued.
System limits
The system limitations for Parking Assist
PARKTRONIC apply for passive side impact pro-
tection.
The following objects are not detected, for exam-
ple:
Pedestrians who approach the vehicle from

the side.
Objects placed next to the vehicle.

▌Activating/deactivating Parking Assist
PARKTRONIC
* NOTE Risk of an accident from objects at
close range
Parking Assist PARKTRONIC may not detect
certain objects at close range.
When parking or maneuvering the vehi-

cle, pay particular attention to any
objects which are above or below the
sensors, e.g. flower pots or drawbars.
The vehicle or other objects could other-
wise be damaged.

If indicator lamp

is not lit, Parking Assist
PARKTRONIC is active. If the indicator lamp is lit
or the é symbol appears in the Instrument
Display, Parking Assist PARKTRONIC is not active.

Parking Assist PARKTRONIC is automatically
activated when the vehicle is started.
