To deactivate ESP
: press button

OFF warning lamp lights up on the
instrument display. The ÷
OFF
will appear on the instrument display.

To activate ESP
: briefly press button 1.

The å ESP
OFF warning lamp on the
instrument display goes out.
Observe the information on warning lamps and
display messages which may be shown in the
Instrument Display.
Function of EBD
Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) is charac-
terized by the following:
Monitoring and regulating the brake pressure
R
on the rear wheels.
Improved driving stability when braking, espe-
R
cially on bends.
Function of STEER CONTROL

until the
STEER CONTROL assists you by transmitting a
message
noticeable steering force to the steering wheel in
the direction required for vehicle stabilization.
This steering recommendation is given in the fol-
lowing situations:
both right wheels or both left wheels are on a
R
wet or slippery road surface when you brake
the vehicle starts to skid
R
System limits
STEER CONTROL may be impaired or may not
function in the following situations:

ESP
is deactivated.
R
ESP
®
is malfunctioning.
R
The steering is malfunctioning.
R
®
If ESP
is malfunctioning, you will be assisted fur-
ther by the electric power steering.
