INSTALLING THE EXHAUST PIPE AND
MUFFLER
1. Install:
New
• Gasket "1"
(to muffler)
• Muffler joint
TIP
Install the muffler gasket with its chamfered end
"a" facing outward.
Install depth "b"
0.5 mm (0.02 in) or more
2. Install:
• Gasket New
• Exhaust pipe
• Exhaust pipe nuts
(temporarily tighten)
3. Install:
• Muffler

ENGINE REMOVAL
• Muffler mounting bolts
(temporarily tighten)
4. Tighten:
• Exhaust pipe nuts
Exhaust pipe nut
20 Nm (2.0 m·kgf, 14 ft·lbf)
TIP
Tighten each nut to specification in the order of
exhaust pipe nut "1" → exhaust pipe nut "2" →
exhaust pipe nut "1".

5. Tighten:
• Muffler bolts
Muffler bolt
53 Nm (5.3 m·kgf, 38 ft·lbf)
6. Tighten:
• Muffler joint bolt
Muffler joint bolt
12 Nm (1.2 m·kgf, 8.7 ft·lbf)
TIP
When tightening the muffler joint bolt, make sure
that the projections "a" on the joint contact the
muffler gasket "1".
