Leakage/contamination test

The contamination of the source capsule must be checked at regular
intervals. The frequency of the contamination test (also wipe test)
must correspond to the specifications of the authorities or the han-
dling permit.
Note:
A contamination test is not only required as a regular test but must be
carried out after each incident that could impair the shielding of the
source. In such case, the contamination test must be prescribed by
the responsible radiation safety officer under consideration of the ap-
plicable regulations and comprise, apart from the source holder itself,
all other affected parts of the process vessel.
