8.4 Extension Cords
USE PROPER EXTENSION CORD. Make sure
your extension cord is in good condition. When
using an extension cord, be sure to use one heavy
enough to carry the current your product will draw.
An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage
resulting in loss of power and overheating. Table 1
shows correct size to use depending on cord
length and nameplate ampere rating. If in doubt,
use the next heavier gauge. The smaller the gauge
number, the heavier the cord.

8.5 Magnetic Switch and Safety Key
Refer to Figure 15.
The start switch has a power indicator lamp which
is on whenever there is power connected to the
saw, not just when the saw is running. Always
check before use.
Do not assume that no light
means there is no power to the machine. If the
bulb is bad, there will be no indication. Always
check for power first. Failure to comply may
cause serious injury!
To start saw, pull red button. Push it back in to stop
saw.
The switch has a safety key (Figure 15). Slide key
out and store in a safe place, to prevent
unauthorized starting of saw. Reinstall key to
operate saw.
