Description
Due to a recent agreement with Nortel, there have been some changes to the SpectraLink product line.
The Nortel Meridian interface will no longer be part of the "Universal" product. The Nortel Meridian
interface, including the prior "Universal" set, is now offered with new part numbers. These changes
require a new version of hardware and software.
Link 150 MCUs
The new part number to support Nortel Meridian on the Link 150 MCU is the SCN516. The SCU516 is
being replaced by the SCD516. The SCD516 will support all the PBX versions that the SCU516 did,
except Nortel Meridian. The software version to support these models needs to be 53.021 or greater.
If you currently have SCU5xx MCUs installed and need to expand, this can be done using either an
SCD516 or SCN516 (depending on the PBX type needed). Once installed, the SCN516 or SCD516 will
automatically download software into the existing MCUs. The existing SCU516 MCUs will continue to
support the Nortel Meridian interface.
Link 3000 MCUs
The new part number to support Nortel Meridian on the Link 3000 MCU is the CPN316. The CPU316 is
being replaced by the CPD316. The CPD316 will support all the PBX versions that the CPU316 did,
except Nortel Meridian. The software version to support these cards needs to be .075 or greater.
If you install a CPD316 while running a version less than .075, you will get an alarm on your system and
that card will not operate. The system will alarm with an "Unknown HW" alarm on the cards. Contact
SpectraLink Customer Support at 1-800-775-5330 to arrange a software upgrade. The existing CPU316
cards will continue to support the Nortel Meridian interface.
NetLink Telephony Gateways
The new part number to support Nortel Meridian on the NetLink Telephony Gateway is the TGN116. The
TGU116 is being replaced by the TGD116. The TGD116 will support all the PBX versions that the
TGU116 did except, Nortel Meridian. The software version to support these Gateways needs to be .064
or greater.
If you currently have TGU116 Gateways installed and need to expand, this can be done using either a
TGD116 or TGN116 (depending on the PBX type needed). Once installed, you will need to update the
software on your existing Gateways to match the new TGN116 or TGD116 Gateway. If you do not, you
will get a Software Mismatch alarm on the Gateways. Refer to Technical Bulletin #00-17 on the
procedure to update software on the Gateways. Once updated, the existing TGU116 Gateways will
continue to support the Nortel Meridian interface.
