20) Mounting the Electronics
Trim the leads of the blue and red LEDs as well as the 2 push
buttons to a length of 6 mm.
For the LEDs, you can identify the negative terminal (cath-
ode) by the shorter leg and the larger "flag" (K) inside.
To ensure the contact for the 3 red LEDs in the sockets is
good, you'll need to twist the ends of the legs 90° using a
small pair of pliers.
Now, insert the 12 blue LEDs into the sockets shown in the
picture, making sure the cathode is always on the inside.
The red LEDs need to have the cathode facing toward the
writing on the acrylic plate.
Plug the push-buttons into the sockets AL1/AL3 and AR1/AR3.
Now insert the final sensor, plugging the shorter pin (collector)
into socket AR0, and the longer one into AL0. Then, bend the
sensor 90° backwards.
Place the two red switch caps, with their slots facing sideways,
onto the push-buttons (LEDs and PWR).
Lastly, insert the Nano board, with the USB connector on the
left side, into the corresponding socket terminal strips.
