    1. General Information The PLX PEX 8614AA Base Board RDK is a Rapid Development Kit based on the PEX 8614, a 12-lane, 12-port PCI Express switch based in the PCI Express Specification rev 2.0 with SerDes capable of running at 5 GT/s. The PEX 8614AA Base Board RDK provides a complete hardware and software development platform that facilitates getting designs up and running quickly, lowering risk and reducing time-to-market.

    2. System Architecture The PEX 8614AA-Base Board RDK is a 21” x 10” bench top board for silicon evaluation and design reference for the PEX 8614 PCI Express Gen 2 switch. This RDK consists of three main hardware components: the base board, the PCI Express External Cable Adapter and PCI Express Cable assembly.

    PCI Express connector SLOT 82. Serial EEPROM The PEX 8614AA Base Board RDK contains a blank surface mount Atmel AT25256A 32-Kbit serial EEPROM (U19) which is directly interfaced to the PEX 8614. When programmed correctly, the serial EEPROM can be used to change the default configuration and internal register values of the PEX 8614.
