Installing a Higher Performance Processor

Your computer comes with ZIF Socket 7 compatible processor. Improving
overall performance is based on your computer's main logic board design, the
amount of L2 cache and computer memory, the video controller type, as well as
the performance characteristics of the installed hard disk drive(s). The following
main logic board information is important when selecting a higher performance
processor:
SiS 5597 Pentium PCI/ISA controller
Switch selectable processor clock input frequencies up to 233 MHz
(refer to Appendix A for jumper settings)
Onboard 256 KB L2 cache
When you upgrade the processor, you might need to set a jumper to properly
configure your computer for the correct processor voltage (refer to Appendix A
for jumper settings).
NOTE: Processor upgrades and voltage requirements change
over time. The following table lists Socket 7 compatible
processors and required voltages at the time this manual was
released.
