DAILY USE

ODOURS WHEN USING THE FIREPLACE
FOR THE FIRST TIME
When the fi replace is used for the fi rst me, it may give off a slight
smell. This is because the paint on the outside is drying. You should
open some windows to ensure the room is ven lated.

ADJUSTING VENTS

Fig. 1
A
Pull out the igni on vent (A) (the air vent (B) follows automa cally).

"TOP DOWN" LIGHTING THE FIRE

Ligh ng the fi re from the top down provides more environmentally
friendly ligh ng and helps to keep the glass areas as clean as
possible. The fl ames work their way down. Ligh ng from the top
produces faster hea ng of the burn chamber, ensuring that you
quickly achieve a good draught in the stovepipe and pipe, more
oxygen for the fl ames and a higher temperature.
4 logs measuring approx. 20-25 cm in length and weighing
approx. 0.5-0.6 kg each
15-20 kindling s cks measuring approx. 20 cm and with a
combined weight of approx. 0.8-1.0 kg
3 fi relighter sachets/cubes
Place logs, kindling s cks and fi relighters/sachets in the burn
chamber.
Adjust the se ngs for combus on air and air vent to the max.
opening during the ligh ng phase. If the stove burns too fi ercely,
you can reduce the amount of combus on air (A).
NOTE: Never add so much wood that it covers the secondary
holes (This does not apply when star ng from cold).

ADDING FIREWOOD

Stoke the stove frequently but only add small amounts of fuel at
a me. If the stove is fi lled too full, the heat created may cause
extreme stress in the chimney. Add fuel to the fi re in modera on.
Avoid smouldering fi res as this produces the most pollu on. The fi re
is best when it is burning well and the smoke from the chimney is
almost invisible.

EXTERNAL AIR SUPPLY

B
Fresh air supply
The air used for combus on in any well-insulated house needs to be
replaced. This is par cularly important in houses with mechanical
ven la on. Such replacement air can be procured in several ways.
The most important thing is to supply the air to the room where the
stove is placed. Place the outside wall valve as close to the stove as
possible and make sure that it can be closed when the stove is not
in use.
There must be enough air supplied to the room where the stove is
located to ensure there is suffi cient combus on air and air for other
installa ons. Check that the air vents in the room where the stove
is located are not blocked.
For the fresh air supply connec on, follow the na onal and local
building regula ons.
Closed combus on system
With an external air supply, the burn chamber is supplied with cool,
oxygen-rich air that will deliver more effi cient combus on. Use
the stove's closed combus on system if you live in recently built,
air ght dwellings. Connect the external combus on air through a
ven la on pipe through the wall or the fl oor.
Air supply
The amount of combus on air for Jøtul's products is approximately 20-40
m

The outside air connec on may be fi ed directly to the Jøtul F 620
through:

the bo om
through a fl exible supply hose from the outside/chimney (only
if the chimney has its own duct for external air) and to the
product's outside air connector.
