  12. To reduce the risk of injury do not drape cord overthe counter top or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally.
  13. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.

    The use of accessory attachments not recommended by Krups may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
  15. Do not use outdoors.
  16. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  17. To disconnect the machine, turn the control to "off"then remove plug from wall outlet. Do not yank cord, instead grasp plug and pull to disconnect.
  18. Do not use the machine for other than intendeduse.
  19. Do not pour liquids other than water and descalingsolutions specified in this manual into the water tank.
  20. Protect the machine against humidity and freezing.
  21. This machine is for household use only.
  22. The container is designed for use with this appliance. It must never be used on a range top.
  23. Do not set a hot container on a wet or cold surface.
  24. Do not use a cracked container or a container having a loose or weakened handle.
  25. Do not clean container with cleansers, steel woolpads, or other abrasive material.

SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS

  1. We do not recommend using an extension cord with thisdevice. A short power cord or a detachable power cord is provided to reduce the risks of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord accidentally.
  2. If an extension cord is absolutely necessary,
    1. the marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the machine,
    2. the longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
  3. shock hazard This machine has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

PRIOR TO FIRST USE

  • Operate your coffee maker for the first time without coffee using 1 litre of water to rinse the circuit.

(Follow the illustrations 1 to 7)

  • This model has a 10 european cups capacity.
  • Only use cold water and a n°4 coffee filter paper.
  • Do not fill beyond the maximum water level marked on the water tank.
  1. Switching on your coffee maker
  • Press the transparent button. It will light up with a white light and will return to its initial position once it is released.

Note: This Model has an automatic stop system at the end of the cycle.

  • To keep the jug warm longer, rinse it with hot water prior to use.
  • The lid of the isotherm jug must be closed tightly towards the left as far as possible when making and keeping coffee hot, figure 11.
  • To serve the coffee, press down the lever on the lid isotherm jug, figure 10.
  • This coffee maker has a non-drip system which allows you to serve coffee before all of the water has passed through the filter. Place the isotherm jug back in position rapidly to avoid any overflows.
  • Wait for a few minutes before making coffee again.

CLEANING

  • To remove the used coffee, remove the filter holder from the coffee maker figures 8 and 9.

  • Unplug the appliance.
  • Do not clean the appliance when it is still hot.
  • Clean with a soft cloth or a damp sponge.
  • Do not immerse the appliance in water or place it under running water.
  • The filter holder is dishwasher-safe.

DESCALING

  • Descale your coffee maker every 40 cycles or so.
    You can use:
    • either a sachet of descaler from the shops diluted in ½ litre of coldwater.
    • or 2 large cups of commercial white vinegar available from hardwarestores.
  • Pour the descaling solution into the water tank (4) and switch on the coffee maker (without any coffee in it).
  • Let half of the solution pour into the isotherm jug (7), then turn the appliance off by pressing the "On / Off" button, figure 7.
  • Leave for one hour.
  • Switch the coffee maker on again and run through the rest of the descaling solution.
  • Rinse the coffee maker by operating it 2 or 3 times with 1 litre of water and without coffee.

The guarantee does not cover coffee makers which dysfunction or no longer function due to a lack of descaling.

TROUBLESHOOTING

  • Check:
    • the plug/socket
    • that the "ON-OFF" switch (indicator light lit) is in the ON position.
