Replacing Scarifier Points

Make certain that you wear gloves and safety glasses. Chips can fly off hammer or punch
and cause eye damage, loss of eyesight, or other injury.
Scarifier points are removable by heating them in
the dimpled area on both sides. Place Scarifier
assembly in vise securely. Using a hammer and drift
or punch, drive the worn point off. Hammer the new
point on securely. Using a hammer and punch,
indent the point edge into the recess in side of
scarifier.

Cutting Edge Maintenance

The front and rear cutting blades provided on the SBX Box Blade each have two cutting edges. Replace the
complete cutting blade when both cutting edges are worn out.
To reverse the cutting blade, do the following:
1. Unbolt the cutting blade from the machine when the bottom cutting edge wears out.
2. Inspect hardware for signs of wear and replace as needed.
3. Reattach the cutting blade using the plow bolts shown in this manual and torque the nuts to the correct
torque. (See Torque Chart).

Proper Torque For Fasteners

The chart lists the correct tightening torque for fasteners. When bolts are to be tightened or replaced, refer to
this chart to determine the grade of bolts and the proper torque except when specific torque values are
assigned in manual text.
Recommended Torque in Foot Pounds Unless Otherwise Stated in the Manual*
NOTE: These values apply to fasteners as received from supplier, dry or when lubricated with normal engine
oil. They do not apply if special graphited or molydisulphide greases or other extreme pressure lubricants are
used. This applies to both UNF fine and UNC coarse threads.
