On F.O.B. Destination shipments, Forma Scientific's and the carrier's responsibility ends when your Receiving Department personnel sign a free and clear delivery receipt. Whenever possible, Forma Scientific, Inc. will assist in settling claims for loss or in-transit damage.
2.1 LOCATION Locate the unit on a firm, level surface in an area of minimum ambient temperature fluctuation. A minimum of 12 inches clearance is required at the top of the incubator and a minimum of 3 inches clearance is required at the rear of the incubator to facilitate adequate air flow around the refrigeration system.
2.4 START-UP PROCEDURE Once the humidification system is operational, the incubator may be placed into operation. Preset the controls as follows: Overtemp Safety Thermostat ....10 (Fully Clockwise) Undertemp Safety Thermostat .....10 (Fully Clockwise) Main Power Switch............ON Humidity Controller........Desired Setpoint Temperature Controller.......Desired Setpoint Flowmeter ..............
2.6 SETTING THE UNDERTEMP SAFETY THERMOSTAT After the chamber temperature and humidity have stabilized, the undertemp safety thermostat may be set as follows: 1) Turn the undertemp control knob slowly counterclockwise until the audible alarm sounds and the undertemp indicator light comes on. 2) Turn the undertemp control knob clockwise approximately two units on the arbitrary scale.
3.1 MAIN POWER SWITCH & INDICATOR LIGHT The main power switch controls power to the incubator control systems. The main power indicator light is activated when the power switch is in the ON position, and the unit is receiving power. 3.2 REFRIGERATION SWITCH &...
3.5 CONTROLLER OPERATION Use the following figures to learn the nature and function of the microprocessor controller. Upper Display Red, 0.3" high LED, seven segment, three or four digit display indicating either process actual temperature, the operating parameter values, or an open sensor. NOTE: The upper display will always show the process value after one minute without key strokes.

OVERVIEW OF THE KEYPAD AUTO/MAN Key UP/DOWN Keys MODE Key Pressed once, it clears When pressed simultaneously Steps the control through the any latched alarms. If the for 3 seconds, the Setup Menu Operating Menu; also, in the key is pressed again appears displaying the LOC Auto mode, enters new data within 5 seconds, the...
3.6 OVERTEMP SAFETY CONTROL, INDICATOR LIGHT & AUDIBLE ALARM The overtemp safety thermostat is designed for a temperature slightly above the operating temperature of the incubator. In the event of an overtemp condition, the overtemp safety thermostat will: 1) Activate the audible alarm and the overtemp indicator light. 2) Interrupt power to the heaters and maintain the temperature at the overtemp control point.
3.9 DEHUMIDIFY SWITCH & INDICATOR LIGHT When the dehumidify switch is in the ON position, power to the humidification system heaters is interrupted, and the refrigeration system is energized, to provide control for drying. The dehumidify light comes on when the dehumidify switch is in the "ON" position. If the dehumidify switch is in the ON position when a defrost cycle occurs, the dehumidify light may cycle on and off to reflect the action of the humidity controller.
3.13 PURGE BUTTON The purge button permits manual injection of CO into the chamber, to replace CO loss due to door openings, etc. The purge duration is dependent upon the purge level dial setting. NOTE: The CO purge button should be pressed to regain CO percentage after each incubator door opening.
Information about disinfectants recommended by Forma Scientific, Inc. is included as a supplement in this manual. The cabinet exterior may be cleaned with soap and water or with any non-abrasive commercial spray cleaner.
4.3 CLEANING THE HUMIDITY GENERATOR & IMMERSION HEATERS Depending upon the quality of water used in the humidification system, it may be necessary to clean the humidity generator and immersion heaters, every 2 to 3 months. CAUTION! Always turn power "OFF" and allow humidity system to cool, before attempting to clean the humidity generator.

SECTION 5 - SERVICE Table of Contents 5.1 Access to Electrical Components 5.2 Replacing the Overtemp & Undertemp Probe and Thermostat 5.3 Replacing the Humidity/Temperature Sensor 5.4 Replacing the Optional Recorder and Probe(s) 5.5 Removing the Top Section 5.6 Calibration Offset 5.7 Configuring the Controller 5.8 Handling Error Codes on the Microprocessor 5.9 Replacing the Air Pump(s)
5.1 ACCESS TO ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS DANGER! Electrical servicing should be performed by qualified service personnel only. Power must always be disconnected before the control panel is opened. Access to all electrical components is obtained by opening the front of the control panel. Grasp the left side of the control panel housing and pull it gently, but firmly, up and out.
5.3 REPLACING THE HUMIDITY/TEMPERATURE SENSOR DANGER! High voltage is present behind the control panel. Sensor replacement should be accomplished by qualified electrical service personnel only. 1) Disconnect the incubator from the power source. 2) Locate the probe mounting plate in the center of the right side of the incubator interior. 3) Open the mounting plate by removing the screws that hold it in place.
8) Pull the probe(s) carefully up through the hole. 9) Follow the probe cable(s) to the back of the recorder, and carefully clip any plastic ties holding the cable(s) to other wiring. 10) Remove the three screws holding the recorder in place, and pull it carefully out from the front of the control panel.

PROCEDURE 1) Remove all test material from the incubator chamber. 2) All temperature and/or humidity sensing probes are mounted on a probe mounting bracket located inside the incubator chamber. The bracket is secured to the duct sheet on the right side of the chamber.
11) Carefully and slowly lift the entire top assembly up and off the lower chamber section. The top assembly and bottom chamber section separate where the black gasket was located. As the top assembly is lifted off, the capillaries and sensing bulbs will need to be carefully guided and threaded out of the chamber area.
SETUP PARAMETERS At the top of the menu, the controller displays the user level of operation in the Upper display, and LOC parameter in the Lower display. When pressing the MODE key, the value of the next parameter appears in the Upper display, and the parameter itself in the Lower display. LOCK Selects the level of operator lock-out.
5.8 HANDLING ERROR CODES ON THE MICROPROCESSOR NOTE: Microprocessor errors may originate from the following conditions: 1) Electrical noise 2) A noise event 3) Excess environmental moisture 4) Excess environmental temperature If error cause is not otherwise apparent, check for the following listed below. •...
5.9 REPLACING THE AIR PUMP(S) DANGER! High voltage is present behind the control panel. Sensor replacement should be accomplished by qualified electrical service personnel only. 1. Disconnect the incubator from the power source. 2. Access to the air pump(s) is obtained by opening the front of the control panel. Grasp the left side of the control panel housing and pull it gently, but firmly, up and out.
