    This chapter describes the operation and maintenance of your Quantum Travan Portable USB Tape Drive. Caution: Loading and Unloading Cartridges On the front of your drive is an opening with a hinged door for inserting Travan cartridges. Next to the door is the drive-activity light (which doubles as an eject button on the Travan 40GB drive).

Retensioning involves running the entire tape through the drive, from beginning to end. For optimum performance, cartridges used for daily backups should be retensioned prior to each use.

    Chapter 3 Troubleshooting Tape Operations Troubleshooting • If you have multiple USB devices, you may be able to resolve potential USB driver conflicts by disconnecting all USB devices, then restarting your computer in Safe Mode (press F8 during reboot). Right-click your tape drive in Device Manager, then select Remove. Restart your computer.
