7.2. Cautions to be taken during replacement of Optical Pickup
Supplied optical pickup is equipped with a short clip found its flexible cable in order to prevent
electrostatic destruction of laser diode. Before connection, remove the short clip, and check
that the short land is opened. (Remove solder if the part is short-circuit).
7.3. Grounding for Preventing Electrostatic Destruction
1. Human body grounding
Use the anti-static wrist strap to discharge the static electricity
accumulated in your body. (Refer to Fig. 7.2)
2. Work place grounding
Place a conductive material (conductive sheet) or ironboard
where optical pickup is placed. (Refer to Fig. 7.2)
Note :
Keep your clothes away from optical pickup as wrist strap does not
release the static electricity charged in clothes.
8. Optical Pickup Self-Diagnosis and Replacement
Procedure
8.1. Self-diagnosis
This unit is equipped with the optical pickup self-diagnosis function and the tilt adjustment
check function. Follow the procedure described below during repair in order to perform self-
diagnosis and tilt adjustment effectively. Especially when "NO DISC" is displayed, be sure to
apply the self-diagnosis function before replacing with an optical pickup. Replacement of
optical pickup generally requires when the present value of laser drive exceeds 45 (DVD) or 45
(CD).
Note:
Start diagnosis within three minutes after turning on the power (as diagnosis fails when the unit
becomes warm).
