Installing M.2 Key-E Socket 1 Devices

M.2 Key-E Socket 1 slots are used to install WiFi or Bluetooth cards. Although the
orientation of the slot(s) may vary on different motherboards, the X299 MICRO ATX 2
uses a right-angle adapter near the I/O ports. Please see Page 11 to locate the slot.
The X299 MICRO ATX 2 is preinstalled with an Intel 8265 Dual-band WiFi / BT card
in a convenient housing. This housing contains the WiFi / BT wireless card and pre-
attached antenna ports.
If you wish to remove the preinstalled Intel 8265 Dual-band card, you must first remove
the two (2) screws underneath the motherboard that secure the WiFi/BT module to the
board. After removing the screws, carefully lift up the module until it has been
successfully removed from the motherboard.
If you wish to reinstall the module, or another M.2 Key-E device, connect the module
or device to the M.2 Key-E slot, then secure it via the screws included with the
motherboard or screws that are provided by your device.
