Replacing the I/O bracket
Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
To replace the I/O bracket, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the slide cover. See "Removing the slide cover" on page 85.
3. Remove the bottom cover. See "Replacing the bottom cover" on page 86.
4. Locate the I/O bracket. See "Computer components" on page 31.
5. Release the card reader cable from the cable guide as shown. Then, remove the screw that secures the
I/O bracket and pivot the bracket as shown to remove it from the computer.

6. Align the three plastic tabs in the new I/O bracket with the corresponding holes in the computer. Then,
pivot the I/O bracket as shown and install the screw to secure the bracket.
