The Flange Alignment Kit also contains a description of how to use the kit and t graph that
shows how to measure the error angle to see if the flanges are properly aligned. The graph
(shown below) shows the angle error as a function of the light spot distance from the centre
at the limits of the focal distance setting of the tool.
It shows that the ±2 deg demand is met if the spot is inside the fifth ring on the aiming tool –
in other words if the spot is inside a circle with a 5 mm radius.
