GeTTinG sTArTed:
Park car on flat level area. Roll down windows and open doors. Check to make sure tires are properly inflated. Take new
top, do not remove protective film, turn upside down on clean soft pad and make sure mounting hardware is loose and
moving freely.
Install roof onto car making sure neither of the rear roof weatherstrips on the car are folder over, or bunched up as roof
is set onto car. Start and tighten two rear center mounting bolts. Tighten four rear outer locator bolts. Rear of roof should
now be tight.
To AdjusT The fronT on 1sT desiGn 1984 eArly To 1986 roofs:
sTep 1.
See "getting started" above before proceeding.
sTep 2.
Start with front mounting bolts. If bolts won't start, move alignment cone with opposite hand until bolt starts.
sTep 3.
Tighten front bolts to "center" the front locator cones. Insert flat 1 1/18" flat wrench and tighten locator cones.
sTep 4.
Check front fitment. Loosen front bolts. Retighten front bolts, paying close attention to when front of the roof's lens
makes an even contact with the windshield weatherstrip. The front edge should only put approximately 1/8" of pressure
on the weather strip for proper sealing as front bolts are tightened. Too much pressure may cause warps, cracks or
other problems. Too little pressure may result in air or water leaks. If you are incapable of performing the roof install as
described, please seek the assistance of a professional.
