Specific instructions for use in
explosive atmospheres in accordance
with European ATEX Directive
8.1 General comments
OLCT 10N detectors comply with the requirements of European ATEX Directive 2014/34/UE
on Gas and Dust explosive atmospheres. OLCT 10N transmitter detectors are used to measure
certain explosive or toxic gases or oxygen. They can be installed in ATEX zones 2 or 22 (except
for Toxic, O
and CO
versions which should be installed in safe area only).

The equipment passed a mechanical shock test for low risk conditions and therefore must be
protected against shock hazards in ATEX zones.
The information given in the following sections should be taken into account and observed by the
manager of the site where the equipment is installed. Refer to European ATEX Directive
1999/92/EC on minimum requirements for improving the safety and health protection of
workers potentially at risk from explosive atmospheres.
OLCT 10N detectors also comply with the requirements of the IECEx international certification
scheme relating to Gas and Dust explosive atmospheres.
Only catalytic versions are certified to use in ATEX II 3GD zone
