    EVB-LAN9253-ADD-ON FOR BECKHOFF EL9800 USER’S GUIDE Chapter 2. Board Details INTRODUCTION This chapter discusses the board details of the Microchip EVB-LAN9253-ADD-ON for Beckhoff EL9800.     2.2.2 Power Power is supplied as +5V to the EVB-LAN9253-ADD-ON via the board-to-board con- nector. +3.3V is generated internally via an LDO. Assertion of the D2 green LED indi- cates +3.3V o/p. The LAN9253 includes an internal +1.2V regulator which supplies power to the internal core logic.

    Pins 53-56 are NC. 2.2.4 Clock The EVB-LAN9253-ADD-ON for Beckhoff EL9800 requires a fixed-frequency 25 MHz clock source for the internal clock oscillator and PLL. This is typically provided by attaching a 25 MHz crystal to the OSCI and OSCO pins.

DIGIO (default configuration) The succeeding sections detail the hardware and software configurations required for the EVB-LAN9253-ADD-ON and the Beckhoff EL9800 for both PDI configuration options. Note: Pins 1 and 2 of J1201 must be shorted on the Beckhoff EL9800 board (under the PDI selection area).

    2.2.11.1.1 SPI Mode The SPI Client module provides a low pin count synchronous client interface that facil- itates communication between the EVB-LAN9253-ADD-ON for Beckhoff EL9800 and a host system. The SPI/client allows access to the System CSRs, internal FIFOs, and registers.

    USER’S GUIDE Chapter 3. Getting Started with LAN9253-ADD-ON SDK INTRODUCTION This chapter details the software configuration for the EVB-LAN9253-ADD-ON. EVB-LAN9253-ADD-ON SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION To configure the LAN9253 in SPI mode, the appropriate binary files (ESI files) must be programmed into the EVB-LAN9253-ADD-ON configuration EEPROM.

Verify if the TwinCAT adapter was installed successfully by checking if it appears under Installed and ready-to-use devices within the dialog box. See Figure 3-14.     EVB-LAN9253-ADD-ON for Beckhoff EL9800 User’s Guide 3.2.1.3 SCANNING ETHERCAT DEVICES To scan EtherCAT devices, perform the following steps: 1. Connect the Port 0 of the device to the host using a RJ45 Ethernet cable, and power up the board. The Link/Act LED should be switched on at Port 0 when the cable is present.

After the previous scan, click on the “Device 2 (EtherCAT)” drop-down bar on the left panel of the TwinCAT tool. Next, click on the Online tab on the right-side panel of the TwinCAT tool.
