Fuel System
20. After
all
requirements
maintenance have been performed and prior to
any engine operation, a complete fuel system
leak check must be performed in accordance
with the aircraft manufacturer or STC holder's
information.
Throttle and Fuel Metering Unit
Replacement
1. Remove any airframe components required to
gain access to the throttle and fuel metering
unit
in
accordance
manufacturer's instructions. Remove
following hoses from their fittings on the
throttle and fuel metering unit.
a. Hose from air reference system junction
box assembly to junction box on throttle
and fuel metering unit.
b. Hose from junction box on throttle and
fuel metering unit to fuel pump.
c. Turbocharger discharge pressure reference
hose.
d. Fuel hose from throttle and fuel metering
unit to manifold valve.
2. Install protective covers on all loose hose ends.
3. Cut, remove and discard bolt lockwire.
Remove bolt and flat washer from the fuel
metering unit to stabilizer bar connection.
4. Loosen and remove 2 hose clamps and
aftercooler hose between aftercooler and fuel
throttle and metering unit.
5. Loosen hose clamp at manifold and remove
throttle and fuel metering unit.
6. Inspect hoses for condition. Replace any hose
that exhibits wear, damage, or deterioration.
7. Remove and inspect all fittings for cleanliness
and damaged threads. Replace fittings that are
damaged.
8. TCM offers rebuilt fuel injection system
components as an alternative to field repair of
components.
The throttle and fuel metering unit can be repaired
and calibrated in accordance with the applicable

scheduled
with
the
airframe

instructions in the Fuel Injection System Parts And
Overhaul Manual, Form X30593, latest revision.
9. Fittings from the original throttle and fuel
metering unit may be installed and oriented to
the same positions in the new or replacement
fuel metering unit. The fittings must be clean
and free of damage and debris prior to
installation. Apply F/I sealant to tapered male
threads in accordance with Figure 9-6. Install
fittings in metering unit and orient to the
original
positions.

CAUTION...
Never use Teflon tape on fuel injection system fittings.
10. Reconnect the stabilizer bar to the fuel
metering unit with the bolt and flat washer.

11. Using a serviceable hose and clamp assembly,
install the throttle and metering unit on the
intake manifold. Install serviceable hose and
clamp from aftercooler to throttle. Tighten
hose clamps sufficiently to insure complete
engagement and security of hose. Do not over
tighten clamps to the point of cold flow.
CAUTION...
Torque all hose connections and fittings in
accordance with Table 2, "Torque Specifications
For Hose Fittings" later in this chapter.
12. Install the following hoses:
a. Remove protective cover and install fuel
hose from throttle and fuel metering unit to
manifold valve.
b. Remove protective cover and install fuel
hose from fuel pump to throttle and
metering unit.
c. Remove protective cover and install
turbocharger air reference hose to fuel
pump hose.
d. Remove protective cover and install hose
from junction box on throttle and fuel
metering unit to fuel pump.
e. Remove protective cover and install hose
from air reference system junction box
