    Product description Functional description 3.3.1 Ion exchange process The water softener works according to the ion exchange principle. The exchange of calcium and magnesium ions for sodium ions causes the water to become soft. Figure Explanation The exchanger contains ion exchanger resin in the form of small resin beads.
