Using the energizer with internal
batteries
Recommended batteries
Use 4 x D size, 1.5 V, 15 Ah, dry cell, alkaline batteries. The
batteries will last 30-40 days* with the energizer set to 1
(slow), or 20-25 days* when the energizer is set to 2 (fast).
*energizer operating continuously
Notes:
-
Do not mix battery brands, types or ages and always
replace complete set with new batteries, all of the
same brand and type.
-
Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) or Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH)
rechargeable batteries are not recommended, as the
energizer's pulse speed will be slower and operation
between recharges may be as short as a few days. If
rechargeable batteries are used, then they must be
removed from the energizer before being recharged.
Installing the internal batteries
Warning!
Switch off the energizer before installing
batteries.
1
Press the two side catches and pull to remove the
black battery compartment from the outer case.
2
Insert the batteries, making sure that the polarity is
correct (positive to +, negative to -)
3
Refit the battery compartment. The battery
compartment will only fit correctly one way.
Caution!
When inserting the batteries, be careful not to
short-circuit the tab terminals at the bottom end of the
battery compartment.

Connecting the energizer to an external
battery
Warning!
Switch off the energizer before connecting a
battery.
Connect the energizer to the external battery using the
battery leads supplied. Connect the red lead to the positive
terminal (+) on the underside of the energizer and clip the
other end to the positive terminal on the battery. Connect
the black lead to the negative terminal (-) on the underside
of the energizer and clip the other end to the negative
terminal on the battery.
Caution!
When connecting the battery, be careful not to
short-circuit the supply terminals.
Warning!
-
Ensure that the battery is disconnected from the
energizer before connecting the battery to any mains-
operated battery charging device. Failure to observe
this precaution could result in damage to the
energizer and possible electrocution.
-
When a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sheathed cord is used
to connect the energizer to an external battery, the
equipment must be located in a shelter and must not
be handled when the ambient temperature is below
+5 °C.
