INTERMITTENT CONTROL SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM OBSERVED
Gas odor during setup
Gas odor before first ignition
Fireplace is "on" but no flame
and pilot is not trying to light
Pilot will not ignite,
or will not stay lit
Pilot continues to spark
when pilot is lit.
Burner takes too
long to fully light

CORRECTIVE MEASURE
What To Do If You Smell Gas
• Do not try to light any appliance.
• Do not touch any electrical switch;
• Do not use any phone in your building.
• Immediately call your gas supplier from a
neighbor's phone. Follow the gas supplier's
instructions.
• If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire
department.
Check connections with leak detecting solution
Check connections with wiring diagram
Install new batteries
Sync receiver with remote. See page 19.
Turn shutoff valve to "open" position
Turn fireplace "off" for 2 minutes and then back "on"
Check voltage. Replace batteries if low.
Clean flame sensor and pilot igniter. See
Homeowner's Manual maintenance pages 11 - 12.
Check ground connections
Check sensor wire terminals
Adjust gas pressure
Replace pilot tube
Replace Pilot
Replace Valve
Check voltage. Replace batteries if low.
Wait for pilot flame to strengthen
Check pressures. See page 13.
Clean pilot. See Homeowner's Manual
maintenance pages 11 - 12.
Check ground connections
DV: vent restrictor not installed VF: redirect draft
from room or wall
Replace pilot
Check gas supply pressure
Clean ports
Check orifice opening
Replace valve
Check connections with wiring diagram
Check gas supply pressure
Clean burner ports
Check orifice opening
Check valve/control module connections
Sync receiver with remote. See page 19.
Change batteries
Re-learn remote box and handheld remote
Replace pilot
Replace valve
