TROUBLE
Failure of Engine to Develop Full
Power
Rough Engine

Low Oil Pressure

PROBABLE CAUSE
Leak in induction system.
Throttle lever out of adjustment.
Improper fuel flow.
Restriction in air scoop.
Dirty air filter.
Muffler obstruction.
Improper fuel.
Faulty ignition.
Cracked engine mount.
Defective mounting bushings.
Defective spark plug or ignition
lead.
Uneven compression.
Insufficient oil.
Chips or dirt in relief valve.
Leak in suction line or pressure
line.

High oil temperature.

Defective pressure gauge.
Stoppage in oil pump intake
passage.
SECTION 6
TROUBLE-SHOOTING
REMEDY
Tighten all connections and
replace defective parts.
Adjust throttle lever.
Check strainer, gauge and flow at
the fuel inlet.
Examine air scoop and remove
restrictions.
Replace filter.
Repair or replace muffler.
Drain and refill tank with
recommended fuel.
Tighten all connections. Check
system with tester. Check ignition
timing.
Replace or repair mount.
Install new mounting bushings.
Replace spark plug or ignition
leads.
Check compression.
Fill to proper level with
recommended oil.
Remove and clean oil pressure
relief valve.
Check gasket between oil pump
and accessory section.
See "High Oil Temperature" in
"Trouble" column.
Replace.
Check line for obstruction. Clean
suction strainer.
