C. Visual Inspection
This sensor contains a wireless beacon (only active during Self-Test process) which
is designed to communicate with the Honeywell Connected Life Safety Services App
in order to prove the successful completion of the visual inspection of any Self-Test
sensor. Creteria to be defined.
1. A range of Self-Test sensors can be placed into a beaconing mode from the
supporting App.
2. The App will display all selected Self-Test devices in range of your smart phone
and will place the device with the strongest signal at the top your App display. The
App will also provide details on the device address, location and label. (For further
details on the associated App and Gateway see Connected Life Safety Services
guides).
3. Once the sensor is in beaconing range of your smart phone, you must verify
the completion of the visual inspection of the sensor via the App (recording any
remedial action required if necessary). The criteria for sucessfully passing must be
in accordance with local code of practice.
4. If the label of the self-test sensor is incorrect, you can update this on the App
(subject to holding the relevant user licence), which will upload to the system
when you pair the device with the Connected Life Safety Services Gateway on
completion of the visual inspection.
Self-Test Tokens
If your license requires Self-Test tokens in order to activate the Self-Test process,
please refer to your Connected Life Safety Services guides in order to purchase the
required volume of tokens to complete testing on your project.
Always use the Self Test method to test this sensor. Where individual sensor
require repeated tests then the Magnet, Smoke or Direct Heat method may be
used.
MAGNET METHOD
1. Test the sensor by positioning the test magnet (model M02-04-00 optional) against
the sensor body approximately 2cm from LED, indicated by a mark on the sensor
cover, see Figure 2.
2. Both LED's on the sensor should latch into alarm within 30 seconds, activating the
control panel.
3. Reset the sensor at the system control panel.

EXTERNAL SMOKE METHOD
1. Using generated smoke, or synthetic smoke aerosol from an approved manufacturer
such as No Climb Products Ltd, subject the sensor to controlled amounts of smoke
in accordance with local codes of practice and manufacturer recommendations.
2. Both LED's on the sensor should latch into alarm within 30 seconds, activating the
control panel.
3. Reset the sensor at the system control panel.
DIRECT HEAT METHOD (HAIR DRYER OF 1000-1500 WATTS)
1. Direct the heat toward the sensor from its side. Hold the heat source about 15 cm
away to prevent damage to the cover during testing.
2. The LE Ds on the sensor should light when the temperature at the sensor reaches
58°.
3. Reset the detector at the system control panel.
After completion of the test notify the proper authorities that the system is operational.

WARNING: LIMITATIONS OF SMOKE SENSORS
Smoke sensors must be used in conjunction with
compatible equipment. Smoke sensors will not sense
fires which start where smoke does not reach the
sensors. A sensor may not detect a fire developing on another
level of a building. Smoke sensors also have sensing limitations.
Consideration must be made of the environment when selecting
fire sensors.
Smoke sensors cannot last forever. Smoke sensors contain
electronic parts. Even though sensors are made to last over 10
years, any of these parts could fail at any time. Therefore, test
your smoke detection system at least semi-annually. Ensure
smoke sensors are processed for cleaning and take care of
your smoke sensors regularly. Taking care of the fire detection
system you have installed will significantly reduce your product
liability risks.

MAINTENANCE

Before removing the detector, notify the proper authorities that the smoke detector
system is undergoing maintenance and will be temporarily out of service. Disable the
zone or system undergoing maintenance to prevent unwanted alarms.
1. Remove the sensor to be cleaned from the system.
2. Gently release each of the four cover securing tabs that hold the cover in place,
(see figure 3) and remove the sensor cover.
3. Vacuum the sensor cover.
4. Remove the screen/chamber cover assembly by pulling it straight out (take care to
avoid damaging the thermistor).
5. Use a vacuum cleaner and/or clean, compressed air to remove dust and debris
from the sensing chamber, sensing chamber cover and thermistors if required.
6. Re-assemble the chamber cover by aligning chamber tabs with chamber assembly,
once aligned gently pressing it home until it slips into place and the cover snaps
into place.
7. Re-install the sensor cover. Use the cover removal tabs and LEDs to align the
cover with the sensor. Snap the cover into place.
8. When all sensors have been cleaned, restore power to the loop and test the
sensor(s) as described under TESTING.
