Hex Drivers with ball ends (Imperial units, that is, inches)
Personal Computer with spreadsheet and graphics programs (very helpful but not required)
Calculator (a calculator that can calculate standard deviations is very helpful)

General preventive maintenance
Periodically performed preventive maintenance avoids many failures and prevents small problems growing
larger. Table below show initial preventive maintenance schedule. With experience, you may want to make
your own additions.
Procedure
Inspect kapton window and clean surface
Inspect head gap and alignment
Verify transfer samples
Verify gauge stability
Apply conductive grease
Check receiver voltages
Inspect kapton window and clean surface
Visual inspection of windows to make sure no tears and that aluminized side is facing out toward the
gap
Inspect head gap
Make sure that there is no foreign material inside the gap and the head is aligned properly on back and
front side
Verify transfer samples
Use sensor maintenance mode and advanced mode to go to nuclear sensor calibration display
Go to verification display
