TRANSPORTING BACKHOE
CAUTION:
To avoid possible injury, observe the
following safety rules WHEN TRANSPORTING
backhoe.
Travel slowly over rough terrain, on hillsides, and
around curves to prevent tipping.
Do not drive tractor near the edge of a ditch or excava-
tion.
Use accessory lights and slow moving vehicle emblem
when traveling on highways.
Be sure Slow Moving Vehicle emblem is always visible
from rear.
Before leaving backhoe operators seat position backhoe for
transport by raising boom, swinging to center, curling bucket
and dipperstick in and raising stabilizers.

PLACING STABILIZERS
Set the stabilizers to remove weight from the rear wheels.
Rear wheels are to remain touching the ground as this
provides for the widest stabilizer stance and lowest center of
gravity.

Install swing and boom locks.
When transporting for long distances, periodically examine
backhoe. Make sure boom and swing remain securely locked
in transport position. Make sure bucket is at full curl position
and stabilizers fully raised. It is normal for backhoe to slowly
settle while being transported.
IMPORTANT:
Position SMV sign on mounting bracket located
on
bucket
cylinder
when
backhoe operation, positon SMV sign on bracket located on
tractor.

Raising the wheels off the ground will not only reduce stability
and digging depth, but impair performance and impose
unnecessary stress on the backhoe.
