A relay consist of an electromagnet
and a switch, controlled by the electromagnet,
within a single package
When 12V is supplied to the two small terminals on the left of the
relay, it causes the switch to close and supply 48V to the mower.
It is standard practice to add a diode across the electromagnet to
suppress spikes. It is very Important to connect the diode in the
correct orientation!
