An I GMP filt ering profile specifies a range of m ult icast groups t hat client s connect ed t o t he Swit ch
are able t o j oin. A profile cont ains a range of m ult icast I P addresses which you want client s t o be
able t o j oin. Client s connect ed t o t hose port s are t hen able t o j oin t he m ult icast groups specified in
t he profile. Each port can be assigned a single profile. A profile can be assigned t o m ult iple port s.

Chapter 6 Advanced Application Configurations
DESCRIPTION
I GMP snooping enables a layer- 2 swit ch t o dynam ically learn t he m em bers of I P
m ult icast groups. The swit ch can t hen forward m ult icast t raffic t o port s t hat are
m em bers of t hose m ult icast groups. When a swit ch receives m ult icast t raffic dest ined
for m ult icast groups t hat it does not know, it eit her forwards t he t raffic t o all port s or
discards it ( depending on t he swit ch and/ or t he swit ch's configurat ion) . I GMP snooping
generat es no addit ional net work t raffic and allows a swit ch t o handle m ult icast t raffic
m ore efficient ly and effect ively.
This field displays t he m ult icast VLAN I D.
Click Add t o save your changes t o t he Swit ch's run- t im e m em ory. The Swit ch loses
t hese changes if it is t urned off or loses power.
Click D e l t o delet e t he VLAN I D you input in V I D.
Click Cle a r t o delet e t he configurat ions in D e n y VLAN ( s) .
