Bilge Pumps

The craft is fitted with four bilge pumps, as follows:
1.
An electric bilge pump is fitted in the engine bay on the top of the middle
engine mount with its pickup in the middle of the sterndrives on the stbd near the
transom. Mounted adjacent to the pickup is a water sensor. If there is an
accumulation of water in the bilge, a warning light on the switch panel will light up
and the pump will automatically switch on. When the water level has dropped below
the warning level the warning light will go out and the pump will switch off. The pump
can also be switched on manually.
If the alarm continues, or activates again after a short period of time, return
immediately to shore and inspect for damage. Once back on shore, inspect the hull
thoroughly for leaks and repair as appropriate.
Access is from inside the engine housing cover.
2.
A manual Titan bilge pump is fitted in the engine bay on the stbd side of the
keel with its pickup in the middle of the sterndrives on the stbd (next to the electric
bilge pickup), near the transom. The operating handle is clipped on to the engine
housing.
3.
A manual Titan bilge pump is fitted in the port, forward compartment of the
engine bay. This area is sealed off form the engines and is the bilge for the main
volume of the hull. The operating handle is clipped on to the engine housing.
4.
A manual bilge pump is fitted forward of the crash bulkhead in the bow. The
operating handle is clipped to the front of the anchor locker.
The bilge water from each manual and electric engine bilge pump is cleaned
through a Marpol filter. This removes the hydrocarbons from the bilge water before it
is pumped out into the sea. The filters in each of these should to be checked and
changed when they are fully saturated with oil. The Marpol filter for the manual bilge
pump is mounted inside the transom on the stbd side, the one for the electric bilge
pump is on the port side.

Sponsons

The buoyancy sponsons are constructed from a foam inner tube covered by
a polyester textile impregnated with a Hypalon / Neoprene blend. The two-part
isocyanate cold vulcanising adhesive used in the manufacture is a well-proven
system that allows repairs in the field to be readily carried out by unskilled labour.
Substantial rubbing reinforcement is given by heavy-duty rubber extrusions, which are
bonded, to the sides and nose sections. The ten internal bladders are inflated
through Leafield type A7 recessed valves. A shaped flange is prepared inboard of
the hull line to which the sponsons are glued. Using the same adhesives as the
general construction the sponsons are easily repaired with normal techniques and in
the unusual event of total damage are replaceable.
