The following
procedures describe
information peculiar
to
this modified version
of
the
G42
engine.
Refer
to
the
G42
Shop
Manuatr
and
Supplements
for
limits,
tolerances
and other
important
disassembly,
inspection and
reassembly
information.
THROTTLE ADJUSTMENT
1.
Set
the
adjusting
knob
in
the
top
center position.
2. Start the
engine.
3.
Turn the
governor spring adjusting
screw
either
in or
out
as necessary
until the
rated
rpm is
reached.
4" Connect
a
1.25
kw
load
to
the
generator"
This
can
be
done
by
connecting
two
600W heaters
in
parallel.
5" Again
turn
in or
out the
governor spring
adjusting
screw
until
the
engine
runs
at
3,500
rpm.
6.
Measure
the
voltage and
generator
rotor
speed
while
the
engine
is
hot (after
running
for 30-40
minutes).
Generator
rotor
speed:
50
Hz:
3,000
rpm
Rated
voltage,
60
Hz: 3'600
rpm
CYLINDER
COMPRESSION
Compression
is normal
if it
registers above
6 kglcm2 (85
psi.)
when
the
recoil starter is pulled
severatr
times (approx.
800-
1,000 rpm).
