GENERATOR OPERATION
1.
Self+xciting Circuit
As the
engine
starts,
the
rotor
turns.
This
induces
current
in
the auxiliary
windings
(EC)
assembled
around the
poles L
gf
the
stator
(several
volts,
A-C).
To
obtain sufficient
magnetic-field strength
?or
required generator
output, the
current
induced
is rectified
and
fed
to
the field
windings
(FC)
around
the two
poles
of
the rotating
magnet.

With the
rotor turn in,
current
is
also induced
in
the
A-C output
windings
(MC)
of
the
stator. The magnetic-field strength
between
the two
poles
of
the rotating
magnet
is
further controlled
by
this current
as
it
passes
tfuough the
AVR
to
the
rotor field
windings.
