Step 4: Connect External Devices and DPC or PIC Cables
Turn off the power to the management device.
Plug one end of the RJ-45 Ethernet cable into the
Engine.
Plug the other end of the cable into the network device.
Turn off the power to the management device.
Plug one end of the RJ-45 Ethernet cable into the
Routing Engine.
Plug the female DB-9 end into the device's serial port.
Have ready a length of the type of cable used by the DPC or PIC. For cable
specifications, see the IBM j-type m-series Ethernet routers DPC Guide or IBM j-type
m-series Ethernet routers PIC Guide.
If the cable connector port is covered by a rubber safety plug, remove the plug.
