Lexus Technician:
Before you perform Pre-Delivery Service (PDS) on this vehicle, be sure you:
• Read and understand this PDS Manual
• Read and understand all applicable PDS Technical Service Information Bulletins (TSIBs) for this vehicle
• Read and understand the PDS Precautions in the TSIBs and on pages 4 and 45.
• Attend the "Technical Introduction to Lexus Course L005" at the Lexus Area Office
When performing PDS on this vehicle:
• Use the PDS Manual when performing this service
• Check Technical Information System (TIS) for updated PDS TSIBs and applicable Repair Manual information
• Verify that the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on repair order and vehicle match
• Lift vehicle and perform under-vehicle safety/damage inspection
• Road test vehicle long enough to test hot engine; drive over rough road (Bott dots) to test for rattles/squeaks
• When PDS is completed, complete Check Sheet, attach printouts, and file with PDS repair order

TPWS Operation Verification
1. Connect Techstream to DLC3.
2. Adjust all tires (except the spare
tire) to the standard tire inflation
pressure as indicated on the tire and
loading information label on vehicle.
NOTE:
• To adjust tire pressure correctly when
outside temperature is significantly
colder or warmer than shop
temperature, perform a Health
Check using Techstream and select
the "Compensation Tire Pressure"
checkbox. Compensation pressures
will be displayed on the Health Check
results screen.
• Adjust the tire pressure when the tires
are cold.

  • Page 13 Around the rear window PAINT FINISH (PAINT DEFECTS, DAMAGE) Visually and by hand, inspect all body panels (doors, trunk, fenders, engine hood, roof panel) for surface damage from shipment or for any abnormalities (surface rust, paint flaking, chips, dents or scratches). NOTE: Use a well-illuminated area to clearly inspect all painted surfaces (800-lux illumination is recommended). EXTERIOR PARTS FOR FIT Visually and by hand, check the following parts for proper installation, rust, fit, misalignment and loose items: a) Front and rear bumpers b) Window moldings (front, side and rear) c) Lexus emblems (front and rear) d) Outside rearview mirrors e) Headlights, turn signal lights, side marker lights, fog lights and tail light lenses f) Doors, engine hood and fuel filler door g) Moonroof h) Front/Rear door panel protector i) Outside door handle j) Radiator grille IS200t/IS300/IS350...
  • Page 14 INSPECTION DETAILS - A. ENGINE COMPARTMENT ENGINE HOOD RELEASE LEVER Use the engine hood release lever to check that the latch operates properly. Ensure that the engine hood opens and closes smoothly. DCC FUSE INSTALLATION Refer to TSIB. ENGINE OIL LEVEL (ENGINE NOT RUNNING) a) Remove the engine oil level dipstick and wipe it clean. Reinsert the dipstick and pull it out to check the oil level. The level should be between the two marks. Low Full Excessive b) Check the oil for dirt or impurities. NOTE: If the oil level is low, add specified engine oil and check for oil leaks. IS200t/IS300/IS350...
  • Page 15 INSPECTION DETAILS - A. ENGINE COMPARTMENT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL Visually check the fluid level through the reservoir. If the fluid level is low, replenish the brake fluid reservoir with FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3 or SAE J1703 brake fluid and check for fluid leaks. Brake fluid level should be at the “MAX” line (within 0.2 inches [5.0 mm] below). NOTE: Refer to the Repair Manual for fluid specifications. BATTERY TERMINAL TIGHTNESS AND CHARGE a) Check the electrolyte level. If the electrolyte level is low, check the battery case for leakage. b) Check the battery charge. Measure the open-circuit battery voltage between the terminals. If the voltage reading is less than 12.6 volts, recharge the battery. NOTE: Before measuring the voltage, turn off the engine and all electrical systems. Wait 60 seconds to remove the surface charge. If the engine was running before measuring the voltage, wait 20 minutes after the engine stops to remove the surface charge. c) Check that the battery terminals are properly connected and that the clamp is firmly installed.   • Page 16 INSPECTION DETAILS - A. ENGINE COMPARTMENT IS300/IS350 ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL Visually check the coolant level through the coolant reservoir tank when the engine is cool. The coolant level is satisfactory if the level is between “FULL” and “LOW.” Reservoir cap FULL LOW CAUTION: IS200t To prevent burning yourself, do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. INTERCOOLER COOLANT RESERVOIR The coolant level is satisfactory if it is between the “F” and “L” lines on the reservoir when the engine is cold. Reservoir cap “F” line “L” line CAUTION: To prevent burning yourself, do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. WASHER FLUID LEVEL Open the washer tank cap and visually check the washer fluid level in the washer tank. The fluid level should be filled within 2 inches of the cap. WIRING AND HOSES a) Check the hoses, hose connectors and various clamps for tightness.
  • Page 17 INSPECTION DETAILS - B. LOCKS AND LIGHTS WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL Inspect the five functions of the system. Locks the doors Unlocks the doors Opens the trunk (press and hold) Sounds alarm (press and hold) a) Locking the doors 1. Close all the doors. 2. Press on the electronic key to lock all the doors from outside the vehicle. NOTE: When is pressed to lock doors, a beep will sound and all turn signal lights will flash once. However, if any door is not closed securely, pressing will cause the buzzer to sound continuously until all doors are properly closed. b) Unlocking the doors 1. Press on the electronic key once to unlock the driver’s door. 2. Press once again within 3 seconds to unlock the other doors NOTE: The interior light and outer footlights will turn on and all the turn signal lights flash twice, sounding two beeps.

LOCKS AND LIGHTS SMART ACCESS SYSTEM a) With electronic key inside of the vehicle, touch the lock sensor (on the upper part of the door handle) and trunk lock button. Check that the buzzer sounds and that the doors do not lock. b) Take the electronic key and get out of the vehicle. Touch the lock sensor (on the upper part of the door handle). Check that the door locks. NOTE: Recognition signals for the lock operation will operate up to two consecutive times. c) From a distance of at least 2.3 ft. (0.7 m), approach the vehicle and pull the driver and passenger side door handles, and the trunk opener. Check that the door unlocks. NOTE: The doors cannot be unlocked until 3 seconds after they were locked. THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM With the doors locked, check that the system operates properly. System Test: a) Open the windows. b) Lock the doors by smart access system, wireless remote control or mechanical key. Be sure to wait until the security light on the center panel starts flashing. c) Unlock one of the doors using the inside door lock. The system should activate the alarm, which uses light and sound when an intrusion is detected.

LOCKS AND LIGHTS DOOR LOCK SYSTEM AND ILLUMINATED ENTRY SYSTEM a) Check that all doors open and close smoothly using the inside and outside door handles. b) Check that the doors cannot be opened by using the inside and outside door handles when the lock button is in the locked position (except front inside door handles). c) For front inside door handles: Check that the front doors can be opened by using the inside door handles when the lock button is in the lock position. d) Check exterior key lock control system operation by mechanical key (with driver’s door). Locks all doors Unlocks the door (two-step unlock function): 1. Turn the key once to unlock the driver’s door. 2. Turn the key twice to unlock all the doors. e) Check that the outer footlight illuminates when the door is unlocked. IS200t/IS300/IS350...
  • Page 20 INSPECTION DETAILS - B. LOCKS AND LIGHTS POWER SUPPLY CHANGEOVER AND ENGINE START/STOP Check for proper activation of the “ENGINE” switch. Power supply changeover a) Carry the electronic key in the vehicle and apply the parking brake. b) Without depressing the brake pedal, press the “ENGINE” switch and change the power supply. 1. OFF 2. Press once: ACCESSORY mode 3. Press twice: ”IG-ON” mode 4. Press three times: OFF c) In each mode, check that the power supply has changed properly. Engine start/stop a) Carry the electronic key in the vehicle and apply the parking brake. b) Check that the shift lever is in the “P” position. c) While depressing the brake pedal, press the “ENGINE” switch. EXTERIOR LIGHTS Walk around the vehicle and check that the following lights illuminate: a) Headlights b) Parking lights and daytime running lights c) Front side marker lights...

LOCKS AND LIGHTS TURN SIGNAL, HEADLIGHT, HIGH BEAM, AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM*, AND EMERGENCY FLASHER INDICATOR LIGHTS a) Check that the turn signal indicator lights on the instrument panel illuminate when the turn signal lever is moved up or down. Right turn Move and hold the lever partway to signal a lane change (Right) Move and hold the lever partway to signal a lane change (Left) Left turn b) Check operation of the headlight switch. The side marker, daytime running, tail, license plate and instrument panel lights turn on. The headlights, parking and all lights listed above (except daytime running lights) turn on. The headlights, daytime running lights and all the lights listed above turn on and off automatically. (When the “START STOP ENGINE” <”POWER”> switch is in IGNITION ON <ON> mode.) Turn off the daytime running light system.

LEFT FRONT INTERIOR PARTS FOR DAMAGE AND FIT Visually inspect the following interior parts for dirt, damage, and proper fit and alignment: a) Instrument panel, dashboard and glove box b) Roof headliner, pillar, roof side garnish and sun visors c) Door trim and quarter trim panels d) Seat upholstery e) Console box f) Steering wheel PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM* Check in MID that PCS feature is on. 1. Select menu icons. Check displayed content, scroll up/down the screen and move the cursor 2.
  • Page 24 INSPECTION DETAILS - C. LEFT FRONT SYSTEMS CHECK & ENFORM DOWNLOAD Check all systems with Techstream tester. For details on this procedure, refer to the engine troubleshooting section of the Repair Manual. Tire Pressure Warning System initialization - refer to TSIB. TPWS Operation Verification a. Connect Techstream to DLC3. b. Adjust all tires (except the compact spare tire) to the standard tire inflation pressure, as indicated on the tire and loading information label on vehicle. NOTE: • To adjust tire pressure correctly when outside temperature is significantly colder or warmer than shop temperature, perform a Health Check using Techstream and select the “Compensation Tire Pressure” checkbox. Compensation pressures will be displayed on the Health Check results screen. • Adjust the tire pressure when the tires are cold. c.   • Page 25 INSPECTION DETAILS - C. LEFT FRONT DRIVING POSITION MEMORY SYSTEM* a) With the “ENGINE” switch in the “IG-ON” mode and the shift lever in the “P” position, check the operation: 1. Adjust the driver’s seat and outside rearview mirrors to the desired positions. 2. While pressing the “SET” button, press button “1,” “2” or “3” until a beep is heard. 3. Check all buttons (1, 2 and 3) to make sure that all memorized settings operate correctly. b) With the shift lever in the “P” position, close the driver’s door and turn the “ENGINE” switch to “IG-ON” mode. 1. Register a driving position to the button “1,” “2” or “3.” 2. Do not carry more than one key (including a card key*) when registering. While pressing button “1,” “2” or “3,” press the driver’s door lock switch (either lock or unlock switch) until a signal beeps. 3. Unlock the driver’s door using the entry function or wireless remote control, open the driver’s door, and check that the stored driving position is recalled. Check that the power window up and down operation is smooth. LEFT FRONT OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRRORS a) Check power outside rearview mirrors operation with the “ENGINE” switch in the ACCESSORY or “IG-ON” mode. • Press the master switch “L” (Left) and “R” (Right) and press the control switch in the desired direction (up, down or side-to-side). Check that the mirrors operate smoothly. b) Check the operation of the mirror defoggers. Press the rear window and outside rearview mirror defogger switch with the “ENGINE” switch in the “IG-ON” mode; check by hand that the rear window and rearview mirrors become hot. WINDSHIELD WIPER DE-ICER* Check the windshield wiper de-icer operation with the “ENGINE” switch in the ACCESSORY or “IG-ON” mode. INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT CONTROL Check that the instrument panel light control switch operates properly. Darker Brighter BLIND SPOT MONITOR* With the “ENGINE” switch in the “IG-ON” mode, check that the switch’s indicator light illuminates when the switch is pressed. LEFT FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND WASHER With the “ENGINE” switch in the “IG-ON” mode: a) Push the lever toward you and check that washer fluid squirts onto the proper area of the windshield and that wipers are activated. Wipers will make one additional pass after a 3-second delay. Intermittent Type b) Check wiper speed operation on temporary, intermittent, low and high cycles. Check that the wiper blades wipe off the washer fluid cleanly. c) The wipers should not make any abnormal noise when operating. NOTE: • Intermittent Type - The frequency of the intermittent wiper can be adjusted by turning the knob. • Rain-Sensing Type - The sensitivity of the sensor can be adjusted by turning the knob. • Add washer fluid up to the proper level.   • Page 35 INSPECTION DETAILS - C. LEFT FRONT AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATER Navigation system Warm up the engine and check for smooth operation of each control: Press the “MENU” button. Select “Climate” and push the remote touch knob to display icons for automatic air conditioning control. a) Select high fan speed and set the temperature to 85 °F (29.5 °C) with the “TEMP” button. b) Press the windshield defogger button and check that hot air flows out of the front defroster vents. c) Select “FOOT” air flow mode and check that hot air flows out of the foot vents. d) Check that the airflow volume changes when the fan speed button is pressed. e) Press the “AUTO” button followed by the “DUAL” Display Audio system button (indicator on) and lower the temperature of the driver’s side by pressing the “TEMP” button. f) Set the temperature of the driver’s side to 65 °F (18.5 °C). g) Check that the display of the airflow mode and the airflow volume changes automatically by changing the temperature in auto mode. h) Check that the temperature of the passenger side remains at 85 °F (29.5 °C). i) Select “FACE” airflow mode. j) Check that cool air flows out of the driver’s side center vent and hot air flows out of the passenger’s side center vent.

ELECTRIC COOLING FANS a) Check that the engine cooling fans rotate smoothly. CAUTION: The engine cooling fans are controlled depending on engine coolant temperature.
