Application

The protection and control IEDs have a complex configuration with many included functions.
To make the testing procedure easier, the IEDs include the feature that allows individual
blocking of a single-, several-, or all functions.
This means that it is possible to see when a function is activated or trips. It also enables the
user to follow the operation of several related functions to check correct functionality and to
check parts of the configuration, and so on.
18.4.3 Setting guidelines
Remember always that there are two possible ways to place the IED in the "Test mode: On"
state. If, the IED is set to normal operation (
being in the test mode, the input signal INPUT on the TESTMODE function block might be
activated in the configuration.
Forcing of binary output signals is only possible when the IED is in test mode.
