SECURITY Page – Recommended Configuration Options
The following configuration options are highlighted in
easy reference. These are the options for which adjustments are recommended in order to
establish a new wireless network with quality security measures.
These options establish security as per Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) standards.
If you intend to use wireless devices with the WA840 that are not capable of supporting
WPA, then you should establish security measures that are backward compatible with the
capabilities of those devices.
Field
Enables WPA-PSK (Pre-Shared Key) authentication. Requires a
WPA-PSK:
WPA Pass Phrase. It is recommended to enable WKPA-PSK and
(RECOMMENDED)
WPA2-PSK concurrently to support clients with mixed capabilities.
FACTORY DEFAULT:
WPA2-PSK: Enables WPA2-PSK (Pre-Shared Key) authentication. Requires a
WPA Pass Phrase. It is recommended to enable WKPA-PSK and
(RECOMMENDED)
WPA2-PSK concurrently to support clients with mixed capabilities.

• Selecting Enabled engages WPA-PSK.
• Selecting Disabled disengages WPA-PSK.
NOTES:
1) WPA-PSK requires a WPA Encryption method (below), and a
WPA Pass Phrase (below).
2) WPA-PSK does not require the use of a RADIUS server.
3) WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK (below) can be enabled
concurrently, to support devices with mixed capabilities.
4) WPA-PSK can be used concurrently with WEP Encryption, if
needed for backward compatibility. WEP Encryption is
enabled separately from WPA Encryption (below).
Disabled
RECOMMENDED SETTING:
• Selecting Enabled engages WPA2-PSK.
• Selecting Disabled disengages WPA2-PSK.
