    The AAC3008C01 provides eight analog audio inputs that are coded into four AES/EBU digital audio data streams. The module implements an internal matrix such that each digital output can be the sum of one or all of the inputs. Furthermore, each input signal can be inverted in phase and gained up or down in the digital domain from +24 to -39.5 dB (mute) with a resolution of 0.5 dB.

    ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE. Always use antistatic bags clearly identified with a high degree of shielding for storage and transportation. The AAC3008C01 module is composed of two parts: one AAC3008P01 main board and one AAC3008P02 rear board. Both parts must be installed in a UR3000 or UR3100 mounting frame following the instructions in the corresponding section of this chapter.

    It should be noted that the twisted pair cabling used for the loop-through has a high-pass frequency response and the maximum number of AAC3008C01 modules that can be cascaded is ten. If one of the outputs using twisted pair cabling needs conversion to coaxial cabling as per AES3id levels then a simple adapter can be built using the following figure.

OPERATION This section describes the significance of the front panel indicators of the AAC3008C01 module and their remote control and monitoring ability. 4.1. Front panel description The appearance of the front panel and the elements it contains are shown in the following illustration.

    4.2. Functional description 4.2.1. Operation in 20 or 24 bits The AAC3008C01 can deliver an output stream with the full 24 bits provided by its A/D converters or it can provide an output with the 20 most significant bits. The module comes from the factory programmed for 20 bit operation.

    4.2.3. Description of the delay line The AAC3008C01 can provide an adjustable delay for each of the four digital audio output streams. The delay is adjustable in steps of one sample and is set using the control software.

    32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 64 kHz, 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz. The PLL of the AAC3008C01 will not be able to lock to any digital audio reference signals with sampling rates other than the standard ones listed, and in such cases the corresponding REFERENCE LED will blink.

    4.3. Description of the processing unit The AAC3008C01 includes an audio signal processing unit that provides a matrix for connection between the eight inputs and eight outputs with independent summation and level adjustments for each input. The following graphic displays a simplified equivalent of this processing block for one input.

In order to perform remote configuration and supervision of the module an optional TL3000 family remote communications controller must be installed in the mounting frame.

    Albalá Ingenieros | Manual AAC3008C01 5. GLOSSARY AES/EBU This acronym covers the combined AES and EBU standard for transmission of digital audio. The standard defines a serial interface known as AES3 as per AES, EBU 3250-E as per EBU or ITU-R BS.647-2 as per ITU. The interface originally transmitted two channels (one pair) with PCM coding with a bit depth of 20 or 24 bit and a sampling frequency between 32 kHz and 192 kHz.
