     Do not cover the ventilation openings on top of the HUMBOLDT.  Do not place any other unit on top of the HUMBOLDT.  Do not place the HUMBOLDT on top of other units. Especially not on top of power amplifiers, preamplifiers or similar components that produce heat.

     The electrical specifications of your home country must meet the electrical specifications printed onto the back panel.  The HUMBOLDT is a Class I unit and must be earthed. Please ensure a stable earth connection. The phase ('hot' pin) is marked on the back panel ('PHASE') ...

    Please connect the left and right input of the same number printed on the back panel of the HUMBOLDT to the corresponding output of the source which you would like to connect to the HUMBOLDT.

    Note  Look out for the correct connection of your speaker cables. Usually, the ter- minals of your speakers are marked '+' and '-'. The HUMBOLDT uses the same labels.  Wrong speaker polarization will result in severe loss of sound quality.

    For your convenience, the HUMBOLDT is able to switch all other Audionet units (e.g. power amplifiers) on or off, that are connected via 'Audionet Link' (e.g. by a simple touch on the included remote control or the power key on the front panel).
  • Page 16  Audionet source units and power amplifiers are usually equipped with an 'Au- dionet Link' input and additionally with an 'Audionet Link' output to connect further Audionet devices to be controlled via 'Audionet Link' in a daisy chain. Connect the 'Audionet Link' output to the 'Audionet Link' input of the next unit, using a simple optical 'Toslink' cable.

    Control elements on the front panel The front panel has six keys to control the HUMBOLDT (refer to section 'Over- view front panel' on page 9). You can control all functions with these keys as well as all setup options to adjust the unit to your preferences (see section 'Setup Menu' on page 25).
  • Page 20 The volume control of the HUMBOLDT has a range from –80 dB to +10 dB in real 1 dB steps relatively to the level of the input signal. Differences in input levels can be adjusted for each input channel of the HUMBOLDT separately (see section 'Offset' on page 48).

    Display The display provides the following information in normal operating mode: 1 Number and type of the currently selected input channel, corresponding to the number printed above the input jack on the back panel (refer to section 'Overview back panel' on page 10). 2 Name of the currently selected input channel, fully user-definable (see section 'Name' on page 50).

    Setup Menu To adjust the HUMBOLDT to your preferences, please use both setup menus . Both of the keys are always available on the Menu Options Menu Options main screen of the display. All global settings are located within the setup menu .

     HUMBOLDT will automatically leave the setup menu and return to normal operations mode, if no adjustments are made within 12 seconds.  If the HUMBOLDT is powered down to stand-by mode, all settings are stored automatically in the non-volatile memory of the unit. Even after disconnecting from mains, HUMBOLDT still remembers your settings.

    Turn the rotary encoder counter clockwise to shift the balance to the left. The value in the display turns negative. HUMBOLDT allows a shift of the balance up to 9 dB to the left or the right. The displayed bar graph visualises a balance shift to the left or the right side with a blue rectangle.

  • Page 35 0 - No Input The By-Pass Mode is primarily intended to integrate the overwhelming sound quality of the HUMBOLDT into an existing home cinema setup or to expand an existing excellent stereophonic system based on the HUMBOLDT to a complete home cinema setup without missing out on the qualities of the HUMBOLDT.

  • Page 40 The wireless network is disabled. The wireless network is activated. In order to control the HUMBOLDT via app, the wireless network has to be set to active. If you do not intend to use the network control, keep the wireless network disabled.

    7.1.8 Info The menu item provides the user with a quick overview of the user settings. Info Four info pages are available. Use the keys to skip to the next or Next Prev previous info page. The status bar on the top of the display corner shows the number of the currently displayed info page.

    AN-Ultimates Control App It is possible to control the HUMBOLDT via app by using the wireless network connection. The AN-Ultimates app for iOS is available for download at the Apple iTunes app store.     11.1 Monitoring mains power voltage During operations the HUMBOLDT monitors the mains power voltages. In case of sudden loss of mains, the HUMBOLDT shuts down all outputs to avoid harmful noise on the outputs due to the unexpected loss of mains power.
